Sixth graders, you still have another week to complete the doctor's mask .

Added to that project is this writing prompt:

Imagine that you are living during the Bubonic Plague. You have your mask, and you are somewhat knowledgeable about the disease. Write a narrative story about a day in your life working as a plague doctor. 

Remember narrative means first person and quotation marks. This story needs to be at least three paragraphs. Have fun with this! This assignment can be found in google classroom under "Bubonic Plague Narrative".

  •  Go for a walk and look for geometric shapes, insects, types of plants, or count your steps.     

  • Cook a meal with parents and talk about the fractions that are used in the recipe.

  • Watch a movie with your child and ask your him/her to summarize when it's over or identify specific parts of the story (setting, characters, plot, conflict, and resolution).Please share with your teacher through google docs.

  • Sit on the front/back porch and identify/describe the types of clouds in the sky.

  •  Go outside at night and try to identify the constellations.

  • Chat about the COVID19 experience and ask your child to write/type about their thoughts and feelings. Please share with your teacher through google docs.

  •  Have a scavenger hunt and give your child 10 minutes to find as many things as they can that remind them of something they learned at school.Please share with your teacher through google docs.

  • Allow your child to watch parts of their favorite movie with no sound. Turn the subtitles on and encourage them to "read" the movie as they watch.

  • Play Monopoly and let them practice counting money, communicating with each other, and problem solving.

 *Please choose at least one of the highlighted activities and share with me through google docs.

We thought it would be interesting to compare and contrast the way a doctor would treat a patient  during the Bubonic Plague (Plague Doctors) and now, during the Corona Virus. There is a project where you are to make the doctor's mask they are due next Friday the 8th of May.  You can do as much or as little as you like.  This should be fun.  Be good. Hey guys! This week I have given you 8 task cards in regards to the Black Death.

Please read the tasks attached and choose THREE task activities to complete by Friday. I am only assigning three tasks, because I want you to take your time and put forth your best effort. (If you would like to complete more, by all means, you are welcome to do so!) You are a sixth grader, so you know I expect you to write as a sixth grader (just a couple of sentences are not acceptable). I am attaching a google docs for you to use on any task besides 1 and 6 or you can start a blank document of your own. You can just enter until you get to the next page if you are doing more than one task that requires a doc. I created a pamphlet in google slides that you can use if you are doing Task 6, so I attached that as well. (If you are not doing Task 6, don't worry about that document.) Slide 1 would be the front and Slide 2 would be the back of your pamphlet. If you are doing the poster you may do it digitally and use the doc, but if you prefer to do it on paper, please have your parent take a picture of it and text it to me. Have fun and be creative!
